Honest comparison

Kata vs Yazio.

Yazio is one of the better calorie trackers in Europe and considerably cheaper than the American ones. It is still a tracker: it counts, and leaves the deciding to you.

The verdictA sensible European tracker at a sensible price. And the conversation it does not have.

First, fairly

Yazio at a glance.

What it is for

A German calorie, macro and intermittent fasting tracker used in more than 150 markets and 20 languages.

What it costs

There is a genuinely usable free tier. Paid plans are 3 month or 12 month only, with no monthly option, and store prices vary widely by region and cohort: annual plans have been observed anywhere from around 24 to 84 in USD or EUR.

Where it is strongest

Intermittent fasting done properly: several protocols built in, with a timer that behaves like a core feature.

Who it suits

People who fast, cook from recipes, and want a real free tier at a European price.

The difference

What changes with Kata.

It answers back

Why Kata

Three reasons, not thirty.

One system

Food, training, sleep, supplements, labs and mood in a single place.

It decides

Not a dashboard you read: a coach that says what today should look like.

It stays yours

Your logs, chats, photos and the coach's memory live on your device.

Honestly

When Yazio is the better choice.

If intermittent fasting is your method, Yazio fits better: several protocols built in, with the timer as a first class feature. The recipe library is good, the free tier real, and the annual price far below the American alternatives.

In short

What, how and why.

What
Kata is the coach a tracker never had.
How
You talk, it logs, then it answers with your protein, your trend and tonight's plan.
Why
Numbers are easy to collect. Knowing what to do on a Tuesday is the hard part.

One coach. Your whole picture.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Does Yazio have an AI coach?

It has an AI food scanner and good statistics and insight cards, but no conversational coach you can ask questions of. Saying what is on your mind and getting an answer built from your own data is a different kind of product.

Can Kata do intermittent fasting?

There is no dedicated fasting tracker in Kata today, so if fasting protocols are central to how you eat, Yazio does that better and we would rather say so. Kata handles the eating window in conversation, not as a timer.
