iPhone
Notifications where you expect them, home and lock screen widgets and an Apple Watch app. Apple Health brings your steps, workouts and sleep in on its own.
Functions
The whole app, area by area. What you say, what Kata does with it, and what you get back.
Wherever you are
Your health happens away from a desk, so Kata is built for your phone first: full screen, with the nudges that keep a routine going.
Notifications where you expect them, home and lock screen widgets and an Apple Watch app. Apple Health brings your steps, workouts and sleep in on its own.
The same app, the same data, the same notifications. Google Health Connect brings in your steps, activity and workouts from whatever you already wear.
Kata works at a desk too. Sit down at a laptop and it is the same account, the same data, the same conversation you left on your phone. Coming soon, like the apps.
The coach
Type it, say it, or photograph it. Everyday words become structured data, the coach answers with your own numbers in mind, and nothing is saved until you say so.
Write a line, tap the mic, or send a photo of your plate. Replies can be read back aloud, in the tone and the language you choose.
Recovery, training, nutrition, weight and phase are read before every answer, with cited links when the facts matter.
Confirm every card yourself, or let Kata save the obvious ones. A setting, not a surprise, and always undoable.
Name a weekday or a date and it lands on that day. Kata never guesses a date: if it cannot tell, it asks instead of saving.
A health coach, deliberately. It will not write your emails, and it says see a doctor when that is the right answer.
Getting started
Set up in minutes either way, and everything stays editable later.
A short conversation sets you up: your goal, your phase, your day. Already tracking elsewhere? Paste what your old app knows and Kata turns it into a sheet you approve line by line.
Prefer forms? A classic profile flow instead: your metrics, your goal, your training and your preferences, step by step and at your own pace, with nothing to talk through.
The whole picture
Six places hold all of it: Today, Focus, Activity, Nutrition, Sleep and Mind. Stay in the conversation, or open the data view and edit by hand. Same app, one tap apart.
Talk, log and ask. Kata handles the structure behind your words.
Open the numbers: profile, entries, charts and history, all editable by hand.
Every day
Log meals by text, by voice or by photo. Calories and the full macros on clean charts, your recent meals one tap away, fiber and salt in view when you want them.
Sets, weights and reps in a real workout player, prefilled from last time, with strain and a progression that reads your own history to suggest the next step.
A target computed fresh each morning from your weight and your training load. Log a glass in three words and watch the day fill up.
Hours, stages, sleep debt, night waking and naps, pulled in from your wearable or logged by hand. Kata reads how you slept before it plans your day.
Recovery, HRV and resting heart rate arrive from your connections overnight and shape what Kata asks of you today.
A section inside Nutrition, where everything that goes in belongs: morning and evening stacks, one-tap take-all, intake times and a clean adherence chart.
Your day, and the long line
One live day score from equal parts, a short line from your coach in the morning, a timeline of everything you logged, and a one-tap review that closes the day.
Weight, calories, macros, sleep, strain, water and adherence as live charts. Weight reads as a smoothed trend, so one heavy dinner never counts as failure.
Guided progress photos at the same angles and the same light, laid side by side, next to the weight and protein trends behind the change.
Waist, hips, arms, chest and more, captured with guided prompts and charted over time, so the tape tells the same honest story as the scale.
Name what matters right now and track it your way: a plus for more, a minus for less, and honest reduction trackers like cigarettes that count down.
Page back to any day you have ever logged. Weight, water, food, training, supplements, sleep and Mind are all editable there, your wearable figures beside them.
Handled with care
Schedules, intake and refills, treated as especially private: the names stay with you, and one refill reminder arrives about a week ahead.
An opt-in cycle tracker with phase-aware coaching built on your own logged cycles. The log itself never leaves your device.
All of it stays one question away: ask what happened, what changed, or what to do next, and Kata answers from your own numbers.
Mind
You never rate your mood on a scale. Kata asks about your day in ordinary words, reads your answer beside your sleep, your training and your wearable, and gives your mind a reading of its own.
Focus, Energy, Stress and Calm, answered in your own words in a short check-in and drawn as four dials. A pillar with nothing behind it stays empty.
What you said and what your body measured sit side by side and are never averaged. When the two disagree, that is the interesting part, and Kata says so.
All four pillars become one recovery reading with a plain line under it: recovered, steady, protect today, ease off. Recovery for your head, not your legs.
Clear, balanced, busy, overloaded or storm, drawn as a Kata mark and never an emoji. It appears only when your sleep, a session or a signal backs it up.
One observation in the morning, and only one: a run of calm days, a pillar that genuinely moved. If there is nothing true to say, the panel is not there.
Calmer days after early nights, sharper focus on the days you trained. It needs weeks before it speaks, and counts days instead of inventing percentages.
A mind check-in is one of the equal parts your day score is made of. It shows on Today, on any day you reopen, in your week and in the Sensei letters.
The four answers are what Kata reads. The note you write beside them never leaves your phone: not to the coach, not into a summary, not into a letter.
Meditate, Journal, Breathwork and the breathing pacer are things you choose and count, so they live in Focus. Focus is what you work on. Mind is how you are.
Kata is a coach, not a medical or crisis service. It observes patterns, never diagnoses, and always points you to real help when you need it.
Blood work
Photograph a lab report and the coach reads it with you, marker by marker: value, unit and the reference range exactly as printed. Nothing is stored until you have checked every line.
Real labs and check-up centers on a map, sorted by distance. You book with the provider yourself. Zurich is live, more cities follow.
Every value comes back as an editable row you confirm, correct or drop. Blood work always waits for you, even with automatic saving on.
A findings or referral letter is never mined for numbers. You get the forward-looking context in plain words, and the reading stays your doctor's.
Photograph a restaurant menu and get advice against your phase, your goals and today's numbers. Nothing from a menu is stored.
The hard rules
The scanner
Open the scanner and the camera is already reading. The facts come from Open Food Facts, the score is computed on your phone against your goals and your phase, so the same product reads differently for two people.
Personal and adaptive
The 型 idea made literal: everyone gets the same reliable coach, and no two people get the same one.
Ask for a nudge in plain words and Kata schedules a real notification. It also suggests one when your last 30 days genuinely show a pattern.
English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Swedish, in writing and by voice. Units follow your region, metric or imperial, and switch any time.
What the coach remembers about you is a list, not a black box. Correct it, add to it, or tell it to forget, and it holds from then on.
Every confirmed card lands in your Locked in log, with its category and date. Read it, edit it, undo it. Nothing changes without a trace.
One page lists every fact the coach holds about you, each with where it came from: told, imported, observed. Delete any of it on the spot.
Your recent weeks read into one orbital picture and one archetype, computed on your device. Tap any node to jump to the area behind it.
Rituals
Practice needs rhythm. Weeks close, phases become chapters, and rare letters mark what is genuinely earned.
Sunday evening the week closes: your days, sessions, protein, sleep and mind in one picture, one honest insight, and one intention you carry into the next.
When a phase ends it becomes a kept chapter: a cut, a build, a hold, a peak, with its honest numbers frozen at close. Your year gets a shelf.
Rarely, when something is truly earned, a letter arrives: written for you, in your language, never routine. At most a handful a year, and it stays on your device.
In Mégane's voice
Mégane, who built Kata, lends her real voice to a hands free conversation and to the moments that matter. The premium coach, with a pulse.
Start a hands free conversation and talk out loud, the way you would with a person. Your voice is transcribed on your phone, so what leaves is words, not audio.
Reach a real milestone, a weight goal, a strength PB, a month smoke free, and a short voice note lands in your chat. Rare by design, never spam.
One tap and your Weekly Kata or a Sensei letter is read to you in Mégane's voice: unhurried, and yours to play whenever you want it.
Kata voices come with Kata Plus and Kata Unlimited, always fair use. Every account starts with 30 days of Plus, and everything you track stays free forever.
Kata Duo
Share your form with someone you trust. One small dot a day each: kept the day, or not. Never your logs, never your numbers, no feed and no nudges. Up to five duos at once, and either side can end one at any time.
Apple Watch
A native watch app, not a mirrored screen. Home is the breathing Kata circle with one invitation under it: tap and talk.
The watch app signs itself in from your paired iPhone, so there is no second login, and it reads your health data only, never writes to it.
Connections
Connect your devices and their data flows into your day on its own. Your own entries always win: log something by hand and no importer will touch it. A workout that arrives shows up as a detected activity you log with one tap.
Recovery, resting heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, sleep stages and strain sync overnight and shape today's plan.
On iPhone, Apple Health brings steps, energy, workouts, sleep and weight. On Android, Google Health Connect brings steps, activity and workouts.
Not connectable yet. When it lands it will be read only, so your runs and rides flow in and Kata never writes anything back.
Sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a magic link to your inbox. A password is optional, not a requirement.
Your data
Kata is local-first. Your logs, your chats, the coach's memory, your photos and your seasons live on the device you use them on. No ads, no reselling, no exceptions.
Everything personal stays where you put it. The coach endpoint forwards your message to make the reply and keeps no copy of it.
An encrypted backup you own: your own private iCloud on iPhone, your own account backup elsewhere. Sign in on a new phone and it is there.
Take everything with you as CSV files or a clean PDF report, rendered on your device. Your data is yours to walk away with.
Send a doctor a summary you previewed yourself: encrypted before it leaves, so our server only holds ciphertext, and it expires on its own.
FAQ
Tap the microphone, talk, done: your words are transcribed on your device and handled exactly like a typed message, so “big glass of water and 20 minutes on the bike” becomes two entries to confirm. People use it while cooking, walking or driving. Replies can also be read aloud: you set the tone Kata speaks in and your language, and the voice follows from that.
Kata runs on our own coaching intelligence, Kata AI, included free during the launch phase. Behind the scenes it uses several large language models and picks the right one for the moment. It reads your data on your device, can render charts from your own numbers in the chat, and checks the web when facts matter.
Yes, and that is most of its value. It learns your shorthand (“the usual shake” means your shake), your schedule, your lifts, the way you talk about hard days. Decisions land in a memory you can read and edit, so Kata gets more yours over time without ever guessing in the dark.
WHOOP and Apple Health. From WHOOP: recovery, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep stages and strain sync overnight. From Apple Health, or Health Connect on Android: steps, active energy, workouts, sleep and weight. Your own entries always take priority, the connection stays on your device, and Kata never keeps a copy. Details in the integration docs.
Yes, and it is built for the phone first: notifications, nudges and your whole day where you expect them, plus the widgets and the Apple Watch app. Kata will also open in your browser on any computer, on the same account and the same data. iPhone, Android and the web are all coming soon.
Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. The App Store version, the Google Play version and the web app are all built and all coming soon. Join the waitlist and we will tell you the moment yours lands. Step-by-step help lives in the docs.
Three ways, and they stack. Signed in, Kata keeps one restore snapshot of your account, sealed on your device before it goes: into your own private iCloud on iPhone, into one row in our database on Android and web. Sign in on a new phone in the same ecosystem and the key travels with your Apple or Google account, so Kata offers your history straight back. In a new browser, or crossing from iPhone to Android, your recovery code is what opens it, so keep it somewhere safe. Your Kata data also rides along in the normal encrypted device backup of your iPhone or Android. And the built-in JSON export gives you one complete file any time, to keep wherever you like.
Kata is built for iPhone and Android, and for any computer in Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. All three are coming soon. Switching to a new phone is one step: sign in, and Kata offers your encrypted snapshot back. What that is not is live sync. Your data lives on the device you are using, the snapshot refreshes at most every few hours, and two devices used side by side will not merge. Proper sync is on the roadmap and will be announced honestly.
Free during the launch phase, every function included, set up in one conversation. It grows by invitation too: 3 Months of Kata AI for every friend who joins, and 1 free Month for them.
