We are building Kata in the open, one steady piece at a time. This is the first note in Insights, so it is the right place to say plainly where we are, what is going live, and what comes next.

Where we are

Kata is live. Not a waitlist, not a landing page with a countdown: a working personal health OS you can talk to today. You tell Kata about your day, by chat, by voice, or with a photo of your plate, and it turns that into your plan, your progress and a calm daily rhythm. During this launch phase Kata is free, and it runs as a web app right in your browser, so there is nothing to wait for and nothing to install before you can try it.

Underneath that simple surface is the part we care about most. Your chats, your photos and your health story live on your device, not on our servers. We built it that way on purpose, because a coach only works when you can tell it everything, and you only tell it everything when it stays between the two of you.

What is in place

A launch is not one thing shipping. It is a lot of quiet things ready at the same time. Here is what already stands.

  • The coach. One conversation runs the whole app. You talk; the system keeps your numbers, your memory and your plan in order behind it. A single switch flips between talking to Kata and working with your data directly.
  • The day, tracked without forms. Training, nutrition, water, sleep, weight, supplements and a daily focus, all logged by talking rather than tapping through screens.
  • Local-first privacy. The architecture keeps your health story on your device. This is the build, not a policy we hope to honour.
  • Connections, on your terms. WHOOP, Apple Health and Health Connect can feed recovery, sleep and activity into your day. Connected, not collected: the tokens stay on your device, and an import never overwrites what you logged yourself.
  • Six languages. English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Swedish, each written to sound like Kata rather than translated word for word.
  • The apps. Kata runs as a web app now, with native iPhone and Android shells on the way, plus backup and restore so your history is yours to keep.

Partnerships and the pieces around the product

A health companion does not live alone. Part of what we are building is the set of relationships around it: the integrations that let your existing devices and records flow into one place, and the groundwork for an expert layer, where trusted professionals can publish skills that plug into your coach. We are being deliberate here. Every partnership has to pass the same test the product does: it must respect the privacy line, and it must make a real day genuinely easier, not just add a logo.

We will announce these as they become real, with specifics, not teasers.

The momentum, honestly

We are a small Swiss team, operated by BSNS GmbH in Rotkreuz, and we would rather ship something true than something loud. So the momentum you will see here is the calm kind: features that land and stay, a coach that knows you a little better each week, and a memory that compounds the longer you use it. That last point is the whole bet. Most health apps forget you the moment you close them. Kata is the one built to remember, privately, and to get more useful every single day.

What is coming

The near road is clear. The native apps move from shells to full releases. The coach keeps getting sharper at reading your recovery, your training load and your week, then turning that into a few clear recommendations rather than a wall of data. The expert layer opens. And Insights, this blog, becomes the place where we explain the thinking: the science behind routine, the design decisions, the honest trade-offs.

Kata is not finished, and it is not pretending to be. It is a form we are practicing in public, showing up and repeating it until it carries itself. If that sounds like the kind of health tool you have been missing, the door is open.

Start with Kata. We will keep building, and we will keep telling you exactly what we build.
