Honest comparison

Kata vs Yuka.

Yuka is one of the most genuinely independent apps in health, and its score is honest work. It is also identical for every person who scans that barcode.

The verdictAn incorruptible score in the aisle. And why it can never be about you.

First, fairly

Yuka at a glance.

What it is for

A barcode scanner that grades packaged food and cosmetics from 0 to 100 and suggests better alternatives.

What it costs

Free to download and scan. Premium is annual only and pay what you want, starting at 10 USD, 10 GBP or 10 EUR: offline scanning, search without scanning, dietary alerts. The features are identical at every price, the higher amounts are voluntary support.

Where it is strongest

No ads, no money from brands, revenue published openly, and a scoring method anyone can check.

Who it suits

Anyone who wants an instant, incorruptible second opinion on a packaged product in the aisle.

The difference

What changes with Kata.

Right for you, today

The same protein bar is a good call at 4pm and a poor one at 10pm.

Ask, then log it

Ask about a product in the chat and the answer comes back against your own targets.

Independent, like Yuka

Your logs, chats and photos stay on your device. No ads, nothing sold, full export.

Side by side

Row by row.

A grey mark means possible, but not on its own.

Why Kata

Three reasons, not thirty.

One system

Food, training, sleep, supplements, labs and mood in a single place.

It decides

Not a dashboard you read: a coach that says what today should look like.

It stays yours

Your logs, chats, photos and the coach's memory live on your device.

Honestly

When Yuka is the better choice.

In the supermarket aisle, Yuka is better and Kata is not trying to replace it. An instant, incorruptible second opinion on a jar you have never bought, from a company that takes nothing from brands, is worth having. Keep it.

In short

What, how and why.

What
Kata is a personal health coach, not a scanner.
How
It works from your own numbers: what you already ate, your phase, tonight's session.
Why
The yoghurt scores 68. Whether it fits your day is a different question.

One coach. Your whole picture.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Is the Yuka score personalised to me?

No. Yuka's published method uses no information about you: the same product returns the same score for everyone. Premium Alerts can flag gluten, lactose or palm oil, but they do not change the score. For a shopping tool that is defensible.

Does Kata have a barcode scanner?

No. You tell Kata what you ate, in words or with a photo. Plenty of people use both: Yuka to decide what goes in the basket, Kata to decide what the day needs.
