Honest comparison

Kata vs Oura.

Oura is the most elegant sleep and readiness tracker there is. What it still is not is a system that runs your training, your macros and your labs together.

The verdictAn elegant ring with a real advisor. And what still sits outside it.

First, fairly

Oura at a glance.

What it is for

A smart ring with a subscription app: Sleep, Readiness and Activity scores, stress, cycle, plus Oura Advisor, Oura Meals and Lab Uploads.

What it costs

Oura Ring 5 at 399 USD, or 499 USD in the premium finishes, plus a membership at 5.99 USD a month or 69.99 USD a year. Without an active membership you lose the insights and API access to your own data.

Where it is strongest

A ring you genuinely forget, with sleep staging, temperature and heart rate variability that hold up, and Cycle Insights done with real care.

Who it suits

People who care most about sleep, recovery and cycle, and want a device nobody ever notices.

The difference

What changes with Kata.

Numbers when you need them

A photo, a sentence or your voice becomes calories and protein against your actual target.

Labs read, not just filed

Kata reads the values from a photograph and keeps them, exportable as CSV, PDF or an expiring link.

Yours, and only yours

Logs, chats and the coach's memory stay on your device. No region locks, no lapsed membership.

Side by side

Row by row.

A grey mark means possible, but not on its own.

Why Kata

Three reasons, not thirty.

One system

Food, training, sleep, supplements, labs and mood in a single place.

It decides

Not a dashboard you read: a coach that says what today should look like.

It stays yours

Your logs, chats, photos and the coach's memory live on your device.

Honestly

When Oura is the better choice.

If sleep, recovery and cycle are what you care about, and you want a device nobody notices, Oura is the better buy. A nutrition rating instead of a calorie count is genuinely humane design.

In short

What, how and why.

What
Kata is the coach around your ring, not a second sensor.
How
Ring data arrives through Apple Health, then food, training, water, supplements, labs and mood run in one place.
Why
A good night is measured. What you do with it tomorrow still has to be decided.

One coach. Your whole picture.

Free during the launch phase, every function included. Set up in one conversation, in your own words.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Can Kata read my Oura data?

Yes, through Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, where Oura writes sleep, activity and heart data. Your own manual entries always take priority, so a correction you make by hand is never overwritten.

Does Oura track calories and macros?

Not as numbers. Oura Meals gives a nutrition level rating and shows protein, fibre, added sugars, fats and carbohydrates as low, moderate or high. If you hold a protein target, you want actual figures.
